Pretoria – The Mpumalanga Provincial Government, led by Premier David Mabuza, together with the South African Breweries (SAB), is calling on young entrepreneurs to enrol in its programme to empower the youth with business skills.

Entrepreneurs who enter the 2016 Mpumalanga Youth Entrepreneurship Programme (MYEP) will receive mentorship and capital funding.

“The programme will be open to youth between the ages of 18 and 35 with innovative ideas or a businesses of not more than two years in operation and trading or must be doing business in the sectors such as tourism, manufacturing, agriculture - mainly agro-processing - and unique services," the Mpumalanga Office of the Premier said in a statement on Thursday.

The MYEP will be rolled out in all three districts in Mpumalanga.

“Following the application process, 50 entrepreneurs from each district will be invited to a two-day long business training boot camp geared at enabling them to grow and build sustainable businesses.

“The boot camps will impart knowledge on the leading business skills, templates and tools of trade in order to strengthen their products or services,” the Premier’s Office said.

This programme is an output of the SAB-Mpumalanga partnership that is linked to three areas of cooperation – enterprise, rural and human capital development.

The programme will also identify nine young entrepreneurs with the intention of providing seed capital, high-level mentorship and business development support for a period of four months.

Application forms for entry to the programme will be made available on the Mpumalanga Youth Portal at www.mpuyouthbiz.co.za or the MYEP website www.myep.co.za.

Forms will also be available at the municipal offices in the three districts until the closing date on 19 February 2016. – SAnews.gov.za
