Pretoria - Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, will this morning handover the multi million rand Valhalla Primary School in Cape Town, Western Cape.

Built at a cost of R34 million, at least 1 036 learners will be welcomed to this state-of-the-art school, boasting 32 classrooms, a library and science laboratory.

The handover forms part of the Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Development Initiative (ASIDI) which marks its 99th school handover.

ASIDI, which is a massive R8.2-billion public-private partnership programme, is one of the Government's Strategic Infrastructure Projects (SIPs) as part of the broader Presidential Infrastructure Coordinating Commission (PICC).

ASIDI aims to replace some 510 schools in the country built from inappropriate materials. – SAnews.gov.za
