Pretoria - The Ministry of Higher Education and Training on Friday thanked Medunsa for reaching an agreement to resume academics programmes following strike action.
“The Ministry of Higher Education and Training wishes to thank the Medunsa [Medical University of Southern Africa] management, together with its Student Representative Council (SRC), for reaching an agreement yesterday afternoon to return the university to normality and resume with academic programmes,” said the ministry in a statement.
Earlier this week, the university located in Ga-Rankuwa ordered students to vacate the premises following a decision to close the institution.
“The engagements that started on 31 July led by the Director General Gwebinkundla Qonde with both parties; the Management and SRC continued communication on the side-lines, has assisted to reach this point,” said the ministry.
Classes at the university are expected to resume next week. – SAnews.gov.za
