Pretoria – A 33-year-old man has been arrested in Pretoria for allegedly masquerading as an official from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) who had promised to have former Paralympian Oscar Pistorius’ murder case squashed.

According to the Hawks, the man allegedly demanded R250 000 from Pistorius, promising him that he would ensure that his murder case was destroyed.

The Hawks were informed of the matter and an operation was conducted.

The man was arrested on Friday afternoon in Pretoria soon after he received a deposit of R40 000 for his services, which the Hwaks said included to have the murder case destroyed.

“The suspect was arrested next to the Pretoria High Court and he has been charged with corruption and further charges cannot be ruled out,” said the Hawks.

He will appear at the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Monday. – SAnews.gov.za
