Limpopo Health Dept warns of jobs scam

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

Pretoria - The Department of Health in Limpopo has issued a warning to job seekers about a scam involving false job opportunities at Mankweng Hospital and the provincial head office.

The department’s spokesperson, Sinenhlanhla Gumede, said they had received reports of the scam through unemployed individuals from Mankweng and Polokwane.

They were being asked to pay different amounts, starting from R1 000, which were to be deposited through Shoprite Money Send in exchange for employment.

“The department would like to distance itself from any individual or advert that asks money from unsuspecting job seekers in exchange for employment. If and when the department has to fill vacancies, posts will be advertised and selections made from the applications received,” said Gumede.

She encouraged the public to be aware of such scams and those who have already become victims of the scam have been urged to report the matter to the police so that the allegations can be investigated and fraudsters brought to justice. – SAnews.gov.za
