“Seven learners and two teachers were travelling back from Durban after attending a two-day hospitality course arranged by a deaf friendly organisation.

“Normally the learners attend these courses to upgrade their skills in cooking and food preparation according to their study programme,” the department said.

The department’s MEC Maphefo Matsemela expressed her shock after hearing the sad news.

“… It is very sad to lose the lives of such young people, as we expected a lot from them. On behalf of the department I wish to convey our condolences to the bereaved families and also wish the injured learners and their teacher a speedy recovery,” said MEC Matsemela.-SAnews.gov.za
