Monday, May 25, 2015

Pretoria – Emerging arts and culture associations have until 31 May to apply for the KwaZulu-Natal provincial grant-in-aid programme.

The KZN Arts and Culture Department has set aside R2 million for this initiative. Non-profit groups and cooperatives targeting minority groups such as children and people living with disabilities are urged to apply before the end of this week.

A project’s sustainability, job creation opportunities as well as demarcation, in terms of the districts, form part of the criteria.

Successful applicants will be allocated between R30 000 and R60 000 which will go towards equipment, training, stipends, raw material, audit fees, travelling expenses and production costs.

Emerging groups will receive 50%, intermediate 30% and established organisations 20%.

Groups that have been funded twice will not be considered, with the exception of organisations in rural areas that have shown significant merit.

Organisations that require funding for ongoing administrative or operating costs, purchasing vehicles and office equipment, religious, military or police activities, building or renovating an existing facility, among other things, will also not be considered.

Forms are available from the department’s regional offices in Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Ladysmith and uLundi. They can also be downloaded via http://www.kzndac.gov.za/. - SAnews.gov.za
