Pretoria – The Gauteng Department of Health has suspended its Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Ndoda Biyela, pending an internal investigation, the department said on Monday.
According to the department’s communications head, Prince Hamnca, Biyela was suspended following allegations of irregularities relating to procurement processes in the department.
“An investigation is underway to test the veracity of the allegations,” Hamnca said.
He said Biyela has been suspended with full pay, pending the outcome of this process.
Meanwhile, Hamnca said an acting CFO, George Mahlangu, has been appointed as the interim replacement.
“Mr Mahlangu is the CFO at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital,” said Hamnca. - SAnews.gov.za
