Eskom complies with court order on Koeberg steam

Tuesday, October 28, 2014

Pretoria - Eskom has complied with a court ruling to hand over documents relating to the Koeberg steam generator replacement matter, it said on Monday.

“Westinghouse has made repeated assertions that Eskom refuses to provide it with documents relating to the Koeberg Steam Generator Replacement matter. Eskom reiterates that it has complied fully with the terms of the Order of Court of September 5 2014,” it said in a statement.

Westinghouse had initially wanted to get an interdict to stop the parastatal from either signing a contract with Areva or implementing the contract if it had already signed it.

Westinghouse had filed an urgent application to the court in order to see documentation relating to Eskom’s awarding of the R4 billion tender.

Further, Eskom has to date, through its attorneys, made available to Westinghouse’s attorneys numerous confidential documents.

“It is also on this basis that Eskom agreed to the confidentiality regime which was incorporated by agreement between the parties into the Court Order of September.

“Eskom remains confident that the courts will confirm that Eskom has acted within the prescribed procedures throughout the process.” – SAnews.gov.za
