Pretoria - Four members of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature are attending a National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) summit in the United States.

The week-long summit is being attended by thousands of legislative and government officials, business representatives and union members.

The NCSL is a bipartisan non-government organisation that serves the legislators and staff of the nation's 50 states, its commonwealths, and territories.

The summit is a huge gathering of legislators from both sides of the aisle that provides research, technical assistance, and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues and is an effective and respected advocate for the interests of state governments before Congress and federal agencies.

The Eastern Cape delegation consists of the Deputy Speaker Bulelwa Tunyiswa, Chief Whip Mzoleli Mrara, Member of Provincial Legislature (MPL) Bobby Stevenson and Sizwe Mzamo.

There are more than 100 learning sessions on topics such as health reform, budgets and taxes, jobs and the economy along with many other discussions which will be of benefit to the delegation.

The NCSL summit was established in 1975 as a platform to exchange ideas by state legislatures and to provide policymakers with a forum to research and discuss vital state or provincial issues. – SAnews.gov.za
