Pretoria - An application by South African authorities to have honeymoon murder accused Shrien Dewani's bail revoked will resume in the Belmarsh Magistrates' Court in London today.
The application was brought last month after Dewani apparently tried to commit suicide by taking a number of pills. His family denies he tried to end his life.
The application was adjourned until today because the court wanted another psychiatric report. Dewani remained on bail under the same conditions during the adjournment.
Dewani is accused of being the mastermind behind the murder of his wife, Anni. She was killed while the couple was honeymooning in South Africa in November last year.
Dewani claimed the couple was hijacked while driving through Khayelitsha and that he was forced out of the vehicle. Anni's body was found in the abandoned vehicle the next day. She had been shot.
Zola Tongo, the man who chauffeured the couple, claimed in court that Dewani gave him R15 000 as payment to kill Anni.
The money was apparently to be shared by Tongo and the two other accused in the case. Tongo allegedly received a further R1 000 after Anni was killed.
He claimed that the couple was never hijacked or forced out of the vehicle, saying the hijacking was faked to cover up the murder.
Tongo was sentenced to an effective 18 years imprisonment for his role in the crime
Dewani returned to the UK shortly after his wife's death and was arrested thereafter.
South African authorities are requesting that Dewani to be brought back to South Africa to stand trial on charges related to Anni's murder. An extradition hearing has been set for May.
