Wednesday, August 31, 2016

Pretoria - Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address a number of issues through oral replies to Members of Parliament on Thursday.

The Deputy President will brief Parliament on his South African Development Community (SADC) facilitation efforts to consolidate peace and stability in the Kingdom of Lesotho during the National Assembly session.

Earlier this week, Deputy President Ramaphosa was in Swaziland where he briefed the SADC Double Troika and Summit of Heads of State and Government on his efforts to facilitate the return from South Africa of three Lesotho opposition leaders back to Lesotho.

The Deputy President briefed the summit on progress regarding the implementation of recommendations for the constitutional and security sector reforms.

He is further expected to appraise MPs on government's progress in pushing back the frontiers of AIDS and TB.

“This comes within the context of resolutions of the recently held AIDS 2016 International Conference held in Durban in July 2016 under the theme 'Access Equity Rights Now'.

“In this context, the Deputy President will highlight government's Programme of Action in pursuance of outcomes of the AIDS 2016 International Conference,” the Presidency said. – SAnews.gov.za
