Citizens participate in land restitution radio programme

Friday, September 30, 2016

Pretoria – South African citizens will today get an opportunity to participate in a radio talk show and ask questions regarding the issue of land restitution.

This as the Commission on the Restitution of Land Rights embarks on an educational campaign to inform citizens about South Africa’s land restitution programme.

The community radio talk show linking about 65 community radio stations around the country will afford citizens an opportunity to engage the commission on matters of land restitution.

Land restitution is about restoring dignity, reversing the legacy of apartheid and empowering those who are landless.

As directed by the National Development Plan (NDP), government is committed to ensuring continued productivity of the land, while speeding up the process of redress for those affected by land dispossessions.

Members of the public can tune in to their favourite community radio talk show from 6pm to 7pm today and participate in the programme by calling in and raising questions.

The number to call is 0800 142 446.

“The community radio talk show presents an opportunity to interact with your government and get the answers you need; to be empowered; and play your part as an active citizen of South Africa,” the Commission on the Restitution of Land Rights said. – SAnews.gov.za
