Pretoria - KwaDukuza Mayor Ricardo Mthembu has commended the Dube Family Trust for making land available in New-Guelderland, KwaDukuza to establish the Inqolobane Centre for the children living with disabilities.

The centre currently houses 16 children and relies on sponsorships for it to meet its obligations.

Speaking during a ceremony to hand over kitchen appliances and groceries amounting to more than R50 000, Mayor Mthembu said the council is greatly indebted to Chief Dube for availing the property for the Inqolobane Centre.

He acknowledged the involvement of various stakeholders in the development and expressed his gratitude to Food for Life, HESTO Harnesses and UNITRADE for their sponsorship as well as people who had the vision to set up the home.

“When we came here last year, this home was not in a good state and you have ensured these little angels feel a sense of belonging.”

He said they would now reach their full potential, as promised in the Constitution’s preamble.

“We seek to build a society that is based on the protection, respect, promotion and progressive realisation of human rights. We know it too well that very often, there will always be those who are willing to listen to our plea for help …” said Mayor Mthembu. – SAnews.gov.za
