Cabinet outraged at racism

Pretoria – Cabinet has condemned the recent spate of acts of racism reported in some parts of the country saying there was no room for racism in South Africa’s democracy.

A Durban school is being investigated by the SA Human Rights Commission after a white teacher displayed a racist attitude towards black pupils.

“There is no room for racism in our country and democracy, let alone in our schools …Cabinet calls on South Africans to work together with government to deal with racism whenever it occurs in our society,” said Minister in the Presidency Collins Chabane at a post-Cabinet briefing on Thursday.

“Cabinet commends the Department of Basic Education for its quick action in dealing with racism in schools and encourages all parents, pupils, and teachers to report racism and abuse at schools,” added Chabane. - SAnews.gov.za
