Pretoria – Cabinet has approved the transition of the Section 100 (1) (b) intervention in Limpopo to a Section 100 (1) (a) intervention, says Communications Minister Faith Muthambi.

She said Cabinet was briefed on the implementation of the Section 100 (1) (b) intervention in Limpopo during its meeting in Cape Town on Wednesday.

“[Cabinet] approved the transition of the intervention from Section 100 (1) (b) to Section 100 (1) (a), with clear conditions given to the provincial executive to fulfil as a pre-requisite for determining full withdrawal,” explained Minister Muthambi.

She said in line with the Constitution, the National Council of Provinces had been consulted.

The minister said a separate briefing that will spell out what was achieved and the process going forward will be held early next week.

Five departments in the provincial government were placed under administration by Cabinet in December 2011, just half-way through the 2011/2012 financial year.

The five departments include provincial Treasury, Education, Roads and Transport, Public Works and Health and Social Development. - SAnews.gov.za
