Pretoria - Shortage of water will become a thing of the past for Boskuil and Orsenskraal residents, thanks to a water reticulation project, which will see an increased distribution of water in both areas.

North West MEC for Local Government and Human Settlements, Fenny Gaolaolwe, accompanied by Mayor of Maquassie-Hills Noni Kgabi officially handed over R14 million water reticulation project on Wednesday.

The project includes seven newly built boreholes and a reservoir, which will distribute water to 500 households in both Boskuil and Orsenskraal to alleviate water shortages.

MEC Gaolaolwe noted that North West is a water scarce province but government will continue to ensure that people access clean running water in their yards.

“Water is a basic right that can’t be denied to our people. We are happy that we have changed the situation in Boskuil and Orsenskraal,” said MEC Gaolaolwe.

Local resident Teko George Motsamai applauded government for the project.

"This area has a long history of water shortage and now everybody can get water into their yard. We thank the current government for responding to its commitment of giving us water and sanitation in our area," said an elated Motsamai. – SAnews.gov.za
