Book at testing stations

Pretoria - Ekurhuleni residents who have been unable to make an appointment for their drivers' licence following the decision to suspend the centralised call centre system last week can now make bookings at any testing centre.

Applicants can make their bookings at any testing centre they wish to be tested at, but they will have to make the bookings in person as no telephonic appointments will be accepted. This is according to Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality spokesperson, Zweli Dlamini.

"The reason that applicants will have to report to the centres physically is that an eye test will be done on the same day the booking is made. The appointment will also be confirmed on the spot," he said.

There are 10 testing stations throughout Ekurhuleni and they operate from 7.45am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 8am to noon every Saturday except the last Saturday of every month.

"Bookings that have already been made and were confirmed still stand and those who will be going to make appointments should bear in mind that they will probably be booking for January as we are already full for the coming months," added Dlamini.

Residents are reminded to have the following when making an appointment for a learners' licence test:

- An identity document
- Two ID photographs
- The applicable fee

When booking for a drivers licence, you need to bring the same documents but also your learners' licence.

Last week, the Gauteng Provincial Government suspended the central booking system after it crashed and municipalities were requested to assist be allowing bookings to be made at their testing centres while the Gauteng Shared Services Centre (GSSC) works on the system.
