Armed robbers arrested for masquerading as SANDF members

Pretoria - Members of the Limpopo police provincial tracking team has arrested three most wanted armed robbers who have been terrorising the community of Mashashane and the surrounding villages.

Police spokesperson Colonel Ronel Otto said the three, who also masqueraded as defence force members, had kept Pakistani business owners under siege and police were hot on their heels for business robberies in the area.

Otto said the trio were on their way to rob a local businessman, who also owns taxis, when the police pounced on them around 3am on Sunday.

During their arrest police recovered two sets of defence force uniform, two firearms (a revolver with serial number filed off, three live ammunition and 22 hunting rifle) and a knife.

The suspects, aged between 27 and 33, have been linked with a spate of business robberies in Seshego and will appear before the Matlala Magistrate’s Court on Monday. - SAnews.gov.za
