Pretoria – The two men, who allegedly stabbed and killed police constable Johannes Putsoeli (37) in Botshabelo in the Free State earlier this year, will appear in court on Monday.

The men, aged 25 and 32 years, were arrested on Friday morning by the Hawks and Tactical Response Team (TRT).

The National Head of the Hawks, Lieutenant General Mthandazo Ntlemeza, applauded the officers who worked tirelessly to bring justice to the family of the slain officer.

He said there is no room for those who threaten the security of the country by waging war against police officers.

“We are proud of our members and TRT officers, who put their lives on the line to bring police killers to book.

“We shall never rest until every single suspect in the cases relating to the killing of police officers is removed from society and brought to justice,” said Ntlemeza.

Putsoeli’s lifeless body was found in a field near Keizer Sebothelo Stadium in Botshabelo, with a stab wound in his upper body.

He was robbed of his service pistol, cell phone and wallet.

The suspects will face charges of murder and robbery. The search for other suspects is still underway. - SAnews.gov.za
