Parliament welcomes appointment of new SABC board members

Pretoria - Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Communications has welcomed the filling of four SABC board vacancies.

"The new members of the board have a responsibility to continue, the board needs to correct the challenges and lead the public broadcaster in the right path," committee chairperson Eric Kholwane said.

In a statement on Friday, President Jacob Zuma announced the appointment of the non-executive members to the board, namely Dr Sethe Patricia Makhesha, John Sembie Danana, Adv Cawekazi Benedicta Mahlati and Lumko Caesario Mtimde.

Their appointment follows the resignation of four members last year.

The new members' term is effective from 3 June to 2011 to 9 June 2015.
