Pretoria - Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies will this weekend attend the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Shanghai, China.

A G20 Trade and Investment Working Group (TIWG) was establish this year following a decision by the G20 leaders to better coordinate efforts to reinforce trade and investment. The Trade Ministers will consider the outcomes and recommendations from the TIWG.

The key issues for discussion at the two-day meeting include mechanisms to support global trade growth, supporting the multilateral trading system and promoting global investment policy cooperation and coordination.

Minister Davies said the meeting is taking place at a critical time when the economy is experiencing global shifts, including a slowdown in global trade, which is a concern for all countries.

“The G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting will thus offer an opportunity for engagement on key trade and investment issues that affect global trade,” said Minister Davies on Thursday. – SAnews.gov.za
