Minister arrives in Mauritius for NexTV summit

Port Louis - Communications Minister Faith Muthambi has arrived at Port Louis, Mauritius, to participate and address delegates at the 1st summit of the NexTV CEO Africa 2016.

Minister Muthambi has been invited to participate and give a keynote address at the opening session of the two-day summit, on Thursday, where she will address delegates about digital television revolution in Africa.

The summit provides a unique opportunity for networking amongst CEOs and top executives in the technology, media, and content and cable TV industries.

It will also open debate on new business models and regulatory issues as well as reinforcing relationships between service providers, telecom operators, regulators, content providers and distributors, producers, value aggregators and technology providers.

Minister Muthambi is also scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with her Mauritian counterpart, Minister of Technology, Communication and Innovation (TCI), Etienne Sinatambou.

While digital television revolution (digital migration) will dominate the agenda, delegates will also deliberate about themes such as State and Future of Africa TV with opportunities of digital terrestrial migration in Africa; Africanisation of TV content with special focus on sports rights in Africa: local and International; localised content for movies; news channel strategies.

Delegates will also develop strategies on how to deal with piracy issues in the content; advertising challenges and opportunities. Internet connectivity in the continent is also on the agenda.
